General Information
Our High Performance Drivers Ed (HPDE) school teaches performance driving skills to make you a better driver. The one-day program consists of classroom and on-track sessions — at speed and with one-on-one instruction thru out the day.
In classroom sessions, you are introduced to high performance driving concepts and techniques and given general track instructions:
- » Track etiquette: observing safety flags, pit-in/pit-out procedures, giving point-bys, using your mirrors.
- » Driving skills: Optimal seat & hand position, modulated hand & foot inputs, sensing steering wheel & tire feedback.
- » Vehicle dynamics: Tire performance limits, vehicle weight transfer, friction circle physics.
- » Performance skills: Consistent vehicle placement, throttle steering, threshold braking, timing & visual focus.
- » Safety skills: What to do if you are in a spin, "slow hands, fast feet."
On the race track, your instructor helps you with cornering, accelerating, braking, balancing your car and situational awareness, with real-time feedback and coaching.
Novices are taught basic performance driving skills. More advanced students are given more advanced skills training: trail braking, throttle steering, tire slip angles.
Upon completion of the HPDE School you may attend an open lapping event or another HPDE school for more advanced training.
Note: Our HPDE is a performance driving school, not a wheel-to-wheel racing school.
