news updates from palmer motorsports park NER Investments LLC works with town and agencies as PMP progresses 7/19/07 PALMER, MA – Since NER Investments LLC introduced its proposed motorsports park to Palmer, Massachusetts, in 2006, the group has been working diligently both to engineer the project and to inform residents and officials about the facility’s benefits and impact. The extensive engineering that’s been performed in the past 12 months addresses the following:
NER Investments is happy to report that this hard work is paying off. The group has been able to design a 2.14-mile track that is totally hidden from view from abutting properties and meets all town bylaws. The track itself is 3,000 feet from the nearest residence and easily meets state guidelines with regard to noise. By focusing on conservation, track designers ensured that no wetlands need to be filled or relocated; indeed, more than 80% of the 500 acres in Palmer remain undisturbed. Well-received benefits of the proposed facility include hiking-trail access and off-street parking for trails that access nearby Colonel’s Mountain, the highest point in Palmer. Moreover, traffic studies show no negative impact on surrounding areas. In a May 15, 2007, hearing, questions from the Conservation Commission were addressed and wetland delineation was determined in the entire project area. Next steps In its next hearing August 7th, the Conservation Commission will evaluate construction plans and confirm that those plans comply with local and state conservation regulations. The Palmer Planning Board will then hold a special permit and site plan review hearing to allow the project to be issued a permit.
